After a lot of contemplation, it’s time to give up my cherished scooter. I’m just not finding time to ride it since my schedule changed last fall and I hate for it to sit in my garage. Interested? Still looks just like the day I bought it with little mileage. My Scooter

Yes, I caved today and got over my boycott of Burger King due to the recent SpongeBob commercials with girls and square pants. I realize that kids – which are their target audience, are attracted to bodily functions and love anything with the yellow sponge guy (although I did not like the overtones that commercial had). I look back to Ren and Stimpy and how disgusting most of those shows were, yet we laugh about them still.
I do appreciate BK’s new efforts toward product waste. Here is the clever text from their new Double Duty Box: “A lot of people wonder why it was decided to make a two-cup carrier as opposed to say, a one cup carrier or a three-cup carrier. Well, a one-cup carrier is just called a cup. So that was pretty much out. And a three-cup container would have to be shaped into some strange triangle, and balancing that contraption would be more trouble than it’s worth. So we settled on two. Hopefully it serves you well.” This is made of brown cardboard with colored print but I’m just not sure it’s made of recycled materials or printed with low impact inks.

One of my pet peeves in both the virtual world and the real world is not being able to understand what people are up to and why. Sometimes this occurs unintentionally and other times it’s by design. A few examples:
I get a voicemail from somebody who uses my first name, wants to set up an appointment, but doesn’t tell me why.
I check out somebody on Twitter but their background is dark and the lettering is dark so I can’t really read their bio. From the Zig Ziglar Blog: Read more here

While at Cataloochee National Park on Saturday, we found a couple putting up this mini-billboard. That’s Kristen’s parents in the photo and and they waited around for a couple of hours – but figured they hiked 8 miles too many (that was the plan). We had a picnic set up close by so we were on the lookout as well. Hope they made it back on Sunday for the proposal. This was taken right behind in front of the cute little church where they met. The church faces the river where the horse and buggies used to travel.

While in Asheville, I visited Biltmore Fitness at 711 Biltmore Ave. just steps away from the Village. I found out the Asheville Tourists baseball team works out there when they are in town! I’m still a Sand Gnats fan, but ck out one of their infielders on the Bilt Fit blog:

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio. To celebrate growing older, she once wrote the 45 lessons life taught her.
It is the most requested column she ever wrote. Now that her “odometer” rolled over to 90 in August, she offers her wisdom yet again:
(Daily Updates)
1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick – your friends
and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
